In February 2016 the Birmingham mayor issued an Executive Order implementing a fairly comprehensive ban-the-box policy for City employers. Not only did it require the removal of criminal history questions from job applications, it also prohibited an applicant’s criminal history from being an automatic barrier to consideration for employment.
The Executive Order also gives applicant’s a chance to discuss the content of their criminal history record, to identify any inaccuracies, and to provide evidence of rehabilitation.
Cities Include: Birmingham, Montgomery, Huntsville, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, Hoover, Dothan, Auburn and more.
