Beginning January 1, 2024, access to the DOT’s drug and alcohol MIS (DAMIS) will transition to Login.gov. As part of the transition, Login.gov requires multifactor authentication, which removes the ability for TPAs to submit this content for customers. Submissions must now be completed by the DOT-regulated employers themselves.
This update is specifically for DOT-regulated employers required to submit their annual drug and alcohol testing information. Agencies within the DOT, including the FTA, FRA, FMCSA, PHMSA, and FAA, will all be part of this change. We have included a table of submission requirements by modality at the end of this blog.
Next Steps – DOT Users
If you already have a Login.gov account, simply sign in as usual when the change takes effect.
If you are a DOT user and do not already have a Login.gov account:
1. Look out for an email or letter from the DOT containing a 32-digit code.
2. Visit the MIS website and enter that code.
3. You’ll be redirected to Login.gov, to create an account and verify your email.
4. After verification, you’ll set a password and choose at least one authentication method.
Key Takeaways:
- Effective January 1, 2024, all companies must make their own MIS submissions.
- DISA can no longer submit MIS data on behalf of companies.
- Users must set up a login.gov account by the end of November 2023.
- If you do not have this email, contractors can request a new Login.gov invitation for a new email address by sending a request to [email protected]
- Before 2024, PHMSA will update the MIS Reporting Supplemental Instructions here.
- For forgotten usernames and passwords, please use the following link to contact the respective agency: https://damis.dot.gov/login/UserName.aspx
DISA is committed to making this transition as smooth as possible and will keep you informed every step of the way. Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your continued compliance with DOT regulations.
